We have a double-bill, or maybe it’s a double-exposure? for our Third Thursday meeting this month—an artist talk by John Ritchie at The Arts Center followed by a panel discussion on abstract photography at our usual meeting place and time (Natural Grocers in Corvallis at 7pm).
John will talk about his “Photographic Memory” project at TAC’s Corrine Woodman Gallery. The event (part of the Corvallis Art Walk) begins at 5:30, with some brief comments from John about 6. He says he’ll give us plenty of time to decamp to the Natural Grocers, where our Third Thursday program on abstract photography will be held at 7. Three of the guild’s abstract photographers—Koa Tom, Mark Reid and David Goodrum—will show samples of their work and then tell us what it all means. Well, actually, they’ll talk about their individual approaches to abstraction,
as each does it differently—through finding, collaging, compositing and/or devolving imagery. It promises to be an enlightening evening all the way around. Hope to see you there at both venues!
