John Ritchie’s “Photographic Memory” project gets its first showing in the Corrine Woodman Gallery at the Arts Center in downtown Corvallis. This is the result of work he’s been doing for the last three years, randomly double-exposing old film to create a photographic record that mimics the way his memory works. Past events combine in surprising juxtapositions. Things degrade. Dreams, imagination, and facts are merged to produce new images. Solid memories become nebulous and vice-versa. It’s a mishmash, a shifting personal reality.
The exhibit runs from September 29 to October 24, 2026. John will give an artist talk at the reception on October 15 5:30-7:30 PM.
The Arts Center is located in downtown Corvallis next to Central Park at 700 SW Madison Ave. Hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 12-5PM.
